The Queens Care Society needs your help in making public transportation in Queens County a reality. We aren’t asking for much. We just want as many interested people as possible to attend the Region of Queens Municipal Council meeting on Tuesday, January 23rd, at 8:45 a.m. It’s at this meeting that we are making a presentation to Council, asking them to help in making our transportation goal a reality by committing to long-term funding assistance.
We have our “ducks in a row”. We have completed a needs assessment, a public survey, and a business plan. We have access to the vehicles we will require. We have astrong committee of dedicated citizens who are determined to make this happen.
What will our public transportation system look like? We have consulted with other counties in order to learn from their experiences and gain from their expertise so that the service we can provide will work for our county’s needs. We plan to offer a dial-up service with the needs of individuals considered. The intent is to make this service available between the hub town of Liverpool to satellite communities like Caledonia, Port Mouton and Port Medway. It will mean that those needing transportation within our county can access it easily.
So, come to the Council meeting on Tuesday, January 23rd and bring a friend. When Council members see for themselves how important this is to the people they represent, we hope they will find a way to help make it possible. That’s 8:45 a.m. at the Region of Queens Municipality building on White Point Road. We look forward to meeting you there.
